SICOMA TWIN SHAFT TYPE MAO
  • Well built, massive structure is stronger than any other
  • More advanced features than any other
  • 5 models, from 60 to 320 yds compacted concrete per hour
  • Loading skip hoist available up to 4500 model
  • Special options available, such as double discharge door
  • Competitive price
  • Delivery in 8 weeks, faster than most others
2
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
  • Extra stiff frame will not twist – shaft stays in line, giving longer bearing and seal life
  • 2 stage gearbox more efficient, no oil cooler required – fewer parts to maintain)
  • Italian gearbox licensed to Sicoma only, unavailable to others
  • More paddles than any other – one extra set on each shaft, gives “spiral” mixing action, faster and better
  • ISO homogeneity attained in less than 20 seconds mixing
3
MORE FEATURES AND BENEFITS
  • New patented triple shaft seals keep dirt out for longer life  - the only mixer with this feature
  • Electric grease pump has positive feed and blocked line alarm to ensure correct proportion of grease to seals
  • 1/20 the grease of other models, eliminating contamination of mix
  • Flexible shaft/gearbox coupling eliminates bending load on gears, reducing wear – see  picture at left
  • MAO requires little maintenance
4
TECHNICAL FEATURES OF TWIN-SHAFT MAO
  • Mixing Tank: Steel structure reinforced with tubular bars to prevent twisting under heavy load. Flange faces for shaft mountings are CNC machined to guarantee accuracy and tight tolerance between the shafts and the walls.
  • Lining: Ni-Hard cast iron tiles, 630 HB
  • Mixing Arms: Spheroidal Cast Iron. Number depending on size. They are angled at 90°, superior to the 60° used by most others
  • Paddles:  Ni-Hard Cast Iron (630 HB)
  • Discharge: The discharge door is hydraulically operated (supplied on every mixer as standard). It is regulated by three limit switches. The intermediate position is for partial opening to prevent overflow. Closing is regulated by a pressure switch.

  • Mixing Motor:  Voltage and Frequency depending on the end user. Thermal class B, insulating materials class F or H. Protection IP55.
  • Full load startup not recommended.
  • Electronic alarm unit: Supplied as standard.  Alarms include gearbox and bearing oil levels and temperatures, overload of mixing motors.
  • Top Cover: higher than others to allow easier inspection of the interior.

MAO MIXING ACTION GIVES   BIG SAVINGS IN CEMENT
  • The mixing action is based on both a side to side and circular flow of the material given by the spiral configuration of the paddles.
  • The test carried out showed that after 20 to 30 seconds mixing time, the homogeneity was ± 0.25%, 20 times better than ISO 18650 requirement (± 5%). This results in better quality for critical products such as SCC (self-consolidating concrete) and high-strength mixes.
  • Better mixing means that is possible to reduce the quantity of cement by up to 20% to obtain the same cured strength, compared with similar mixers.  This is a huge saving that pays for the cost of the mixer in a short time.
7
MAJOR CUSTOMER BENEFITS
  • Fast, thorough mixing gives high throughput
  • Spiral mixing action gives better blending than competitors, good for SCC and all slump mixes
  • Easy maintenance – shaft can be replaced in 1 day (up to 1 week for others)
  • Only model with 5 year gearbox warranty
  • Hardest blades and liner plates last longer

8
WEAR COMPONENTS
  • Liner plates and blades are Brinell 630 Ni-hard steel
  • Offset liner plate joints do not improve wear – this is advertising hype without basis
  • Typically only center plates require replacement, and after average of 2-3 years operation
9
DISCHARGE DOOR
  • Complete discharge in 10 seconds
  • Adjustable part- and full- open switches
  • New switch assembly is very rugged
  • Hydraulic actuator for reliable action
  • Door easily removed for maintenance
10
EXTRAS INCLUDED IN PRICE
  • Alarm unit – monitors lubricant levels, temperatures and grease dispenser
  • Cover, access hatches and inspection ports
  • Inspection platform – universal modular design
  • All included in standard price, giving exceptional value

TWIN SHAFT FOR READY MIX
  • Most North American plants are “dry” plants, rest of world use mostly “premix” plants
  • Mixer in plant is proven to give higher quality concrete, save costly cement, save wear on trucks
  • High capacity (300 – 600 yd/hr) requires 2 mixers
  • Can pre-mix sand/cement/ water and pass stone through during discharge for faster operation plus high quality
12

13
TWIN SHAFT FOR PRECAST
  • Can replace smaller/slower mixers with no modification of plant, giving 2 x capacity
  • In comparison, adding 2nd mixer is complicated – extra belts, scales and chutes etc.
  • Best for large volumes of wet cast concrete
  • No problem with segregation during discharge, no dead zones while mixing, complete cleanout
  • Less maintenance than spiral blade or pan mixers, liner plates last many times longer
  • Power washout option reduces cleanout labor
14
THE T-Q-T METHOD
  • To decide what model of mixer is best for your application we need to know three things:
  • 1st Question: Type of Concrete, type of finished product to be produced.
  • 2nd Question:  Quantity of Concrete. It could mean quantity per batch, or per hour depending on the type of application.
  • 3rd  Question: In how much Time

  • With this information we can identify the right mixer for the application, after determining the time for each mixing cycle and the number of mixing cycles per hour.

15
THE FAST MIXING CYCLE
  • The sequence in which the components are loaded into the mixer DOES MATTER.  Depending on the materials and the product produced, materials should be charged into the mixer in sequence and as quickly as possible.  Note that a fast mixing time is useless if the mixer is fed from a slow running aggregate conveyor with no intermediate holding hopper, or a badly designed cement scale that takes 30 seconds or more to discharge completely.
  • We always recommend a DRY MIXING time before water is added, to allow wet mixing to continue properly.  This does not increase the total cycle time;  it DECREASES it because of the better mixing action.
  • You will reap the benefits of fast MP and MAO mixing times if material can be loaded as follows or faster:
  • Aggregate charging:    MAX  20 Seconds
  • Cement charging :        15 - 20 Seconds
  • Water charging :          15 - 20 Seconds

16
SICOMA QUALITY
  • Machining centers can handle complete twin-shaft mixers – only the largest manufacturers can afford this.  Result is better quality
  • The first ISO 9001 certified mixer company
  • Inspection includes automated dimensional checking
17
SAFETY IN NUMBERS
  • Sicoma outsells all other mixers, worldwide.  Annual production exceeds 1000
  • Over 2000 Sicoma twin shaft mixers in use – approx. 50% of world total
  • Sicoma China currently produces 700 mixers per year, mainly for China, while Italy produces around 400 mixers per year for the rest of the world.  In China, mixers are run 24 hours per day, are rarely cleaned out and receive little maintenance.  Only the best keep running
  • The Sicoma plants use state of the art fabrication and machining techniques;  their NC machining centers can accommodate the biggest twin-shaft mixers, ensuring that all parts fit correctly and do not fail prematurely
  • The result is a great product at a great price.  Take advantage of this opportunity
