January 2007 Sicoma announces Double and Reduced Discharge Doors for twin shaft mixers The Double Discharge Door option allows separate discharge to either of two outlets; something that was not possible with twin-shaft mixers until now. This is an important advancement for this type of mixer, easing its application in many precast applications having two or more delivery locations. The Reduced Discharge Door reduces the full width discharge to approximately 1/3 of the normal opening, allowing the mixer to be used in spaces were it was impossible before. Both options include a chute and chute washout system; they allow the mixer to be placed 1000 mm (40") lower, saving the cost of new structure and associated conveyors in many cases. Discharge time, although longer than for the unrestricted opening, is no longer than the partial opening required to fill most mixer trucks and chutes, due to Sicoma's spiral mixing action.
November 2005 SICOMA OPENS FOR BUSINESS IN NORTH AMERICA Sicoma has announced the opening of new distribution centers and offices in the U.S. and Canada, effective immediately. Well known in the rest of the world, Sicoma products are little known in North America. The North American venture is a partnership between the Scale-Tron Corporation, a 34 year old Montreal, Canada based control systems company, and Società Italiana Costruzione Macchine of Perugia, Italy, from which the S.I.CO.MA name is derived. Formed over 50 years ago, Sicoma is the largest producer of concrete mixers in the world with existing manufacturing plants and distribution centers in Italy, China and Spain. Sicoma’s products include twin shaft, planetary/countercurrent, turbine and continuous mixers that have a world-class reputation for ruggedness, quality and speed as well as innovative overhead handling systems such as side rail traveling hoppers, flying buckets and traveling, swiveling conveyors. In combination with Scale-Tron’s state-of-the-art controls and plant equipment from allied company McCoy Equipment, Sicoma North America can provide new plants and upgrade existing facilities from precast to all types of concrete products.
